Utility invoice emails can be (automatically) forwarded to Emmy, or directly uploaded to the platform. Next, Emmy reads the utility invoice and codifies the data.

 

If the energy supplier can provide an API, this is also an option

Emmy matches each data point with the best-fitting CO2 emission factor (EF).

 

If you don’t want Emmy to use certain default EF’s, you can email her or upload to the platform your own EF’s

Emmy creates a data lake that uses neatly organized invoices to maintain full data traceability.

 

On a monthly base, Emmy generates dashboards & reports. The auto-generated reports for auditors anticipate all their process, data, and methodology questions

The formula is a simplified illustration; the actual calculations that Emmy does are more complex considering:

  • Sources of CO2 or CO2-equivalent gases not coming from energy consumption (e.g. Nitrous Oxide N2O used in refrigerants and air conditioners

  • Carbon neutral energy coming from e.g. self-owned solar panels and windmills

  • Sourcing of electricity through PPA’s (Power Purchase Agreements) or green tariffsPurchase of GO’s (Guarantees of Origin) or REC (Renewable Energy Certificates)
